“We were vacationing at our camp one summer and I took a quick trip home to do the laundry and take a shower. There it was. I went back to the camp and said to my husband, ‘Don’t tell the kids. This might be our last vacation together.’ Twenty-five years ago, that’s how you thought when you discovered a lump in your breast. The biopsy came back positive. I had a lumpectomy and breezed through radiation. Everything was great… for 12 years. My doctor had opted to see me every six months instead of once a year. At one of my checkups, they discovered the cancer was back and advanced. I had a complete mastectomy. Had it not been for those six-month appointments, the cancer might have been too advanced to do anything.” - Lillian
